Redlight Trailer

“According to the U.S. Department of State’s 2010 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report released last week, approximately 1 out of every 555 people in the world is a victim of human trafficking. “-Source: Business Wire

“Narrated by Lucy Liu, REDLIGHT is a powerful feature documentary about child sexploitation, an epidemic happening in every country around the world.” -REDLIGHT, on Vimeo, by Jillian Selsky

Admittedly, your editor has been lax in keeping up with the latest films this year. Life is busy, and the time spent here is probably a write-off, and a complete waste of my time. You are welcome to dispute my assessment, and I sort of hope someone does.

I have not seen REDLIGHT, only the trailer. What prompted me to post is this new controversy over at Amazon.com, which I just learned of today:

“Amazon bows to social networking pressure on pedophile book” -Computerworld.com

Motivation for posting can be ascertained, perhaps from this news headline on Google News:

“‘Pedophile Guide’ Author Confident E-Book Will Be Back on Amazon Fox News “

-Fox “News” *

I have no patience for digging into the motivations and psychological damage of this “author,” as per the Fox “News”* story. I’m just thinking that other countries, such as Cambodia, need to step up in their law enforcement policies on this issue. It is quite a shame the children can — in this day and age — be “sold” into brothels, often by theiir own parents. Jesus, somebody should definitely do somethng about that.

* Fox is generally not “news” although they claim to be. The Fox channels, and “newscorp” have claimed that blatant propaganda and opinion is somehow “news” when it in no way is. See Robert Greenwald’s documentary OUTFOXED for a more in-depth analysis of this malignant corporation.
