I held my tongue at Iron Man 2 when assaulted by hyper-nationalism, American mind fuck imagery, flags up your ass and then some… I accepted that Tony Stark might have some space, some working room apart from US imperialism.
After all Iron Man is an independent operator, the essence of free will and individual liberty — right?
In Iron Man 2, we had a Russian bad guy. At one point we had an American military parade of Iron Man like drones. The flags were pervasive and forced on the viewer.
…But Iron Man sort of opposed this use of his technology? Right? He fought against the US government drones, in a way.
But what the fuck am I seeing in that image above? Is Iron Man reduced to a tool of US imperialism now?
While the first Iron Man film took down war profiteers embodied by the Dick Cheneyesque bad guy in Stark’s own company, what are we witnessing now? The second installment demonized a Russian. Okay, he wasn’t Russia, but a rogue, independent operator.
Iron Man 3 is poised to demonize a Chinese. Only, not a real Chinaman. A faker — Ben Kingsley in yellow-face:
Should I be worried?
We are assaulted by nationalist propaganda almost constantly. How much propagandizing can a population take before it snaps (Germnay, 1930s)…
