This film is fun.

I got wind of it from some other “top 10” lists that are floating around. It’s an exploration of “street art” from the inside, essentially. But, it was surprisingly ironic and funny when all is said and done.

Street art is, of course, better known as “graffiti” and is illegal most everywhere. Banksy says it’s a bit of a “grey area,” and so he never expected fame, fortune and glory. Well maybe the glory.

I first got into this phenomenon a little late, after seeing Banksy’s openig couch gag on The Simpsons, which is perhaps the best opening couch gag ever.

Banksy is a hell of an artist, and this film is a good record of his shenanigans. Some of his more political pieces are amazing. His big intro into mainstream culture (at a certain museum) is so hilarious that I dare not spoil the sequence.

So anyway, people are talking Oscar buzz, and it’s not quite clear what you’re actually watching until the end. Great film, fun and interesting. What more do you want, people?
