The Creepiest Asshole in L.A.

nightcrawler_teaser_727I’ll name Nightcrawler as the best film to come out recently, perhaps of the 2015 DVD releases so far.

nightcrawlerLouis Bloom is a stand-in for predatory capitalism, and he’s a psychopath. So he’s the perfect capitalist, one who is ready to exploit others, lie, cheat and steal to get ahead. It’s pretty obvious, and he spouts business school platitudes throughout, as he builds his news-gathering business over the course of the film.

This is the perfect milieu for an American Psycho to thrive. The competition is cutthroat, and the race to get the raw materials and turn them into a product is so fast-paced that every second counts. It’s high pressure racing around the streets of the city to beat the police–and the competitors–to the scenes of crimes.
