Doesn’t it bother you how the russians throw around that label fascist? Trotsky used the excuse that Batko was anti-Semitic remember. nestor mahkno wrote pages and pages crying out the injustice of being labelled anti-Semitic. I think that’s what trotsky did that hurt him the most. But not even trotsky would have called him a fascist.
Ukraine has a grudge against russian imperialism. Its not fascist to wage a war for self-determination right? If you listen, you’ll hear the ukrainians feel oppressed and exiled from their own country. Historically, its been russian foreign policy which ukrainians feel is the cause of repeated failures to be independent. I just think calling a country that wants independence from historical political oppression, it sounds silly. It makes you sound like you don’t understand what the word fascist means.
“Doesn’t it bother you how the russians throw around that label fascist? ”
NO. They ARE fascists. Proudly. Loud and violent thugs. I don’t need Russians to see reality in front of my face.
Odd you need to go back a full century to make your point. I try to keep things current.
Well one of us misunderstands, that’s for sure.
A full century? The soviet union wasn’t a century ago.
So how are ukrainian nationalists fascists? No, they aren’t proudly calling themselves fascists, c’mon. Maybe one crazy governor here or there says something loony like that but the ukrainian people do not. The right wing is a small minority in ukraine, dismissed by mainstream national politicians.
You went back to Trotsky, and I’m the one who’s chronologically challenged?
I’ve been posting on this here since their violent “Euromaiden” coup. If you’d bothered to read the article you thought you were qualified to comment on, you’d have seen this…
“It featured the deputy speaker of Ukraine’s Parliament, Andriy Parubiy. According to the program bio, Parubiy served as the “commandant” of the Euromaidan (why did an ostensibly peaceful protest require a “commandant” anyway?) and, later, as secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council. The bio provided to attendees might fairly be described as selective. Unmentioned was Parubiy’s role in cofounding the neo-fascist Svoboda party, and his ties to extremist right-wing groups.”
I don’t know who you are or what your motivation is behind your propaganda, but unless you bring relevant facts I’m done approving your comments.
Wow. Sorry you feel that way. This is a really important issue for me. You can’t point to one wacko fella or even to a minority political party and say because of the 10% who call themselves nationalist (Svoboda), that ukraine is fascist. I guess you can do what you want.
The batko anecdote was just to illustrate that propaganda of this type is hurtful to the feelings of those of us who are grouped in collectively with some cherry-picked wackos.
It’s not fair to say americans are proudly fascist because trump is popular among a minority, right?
I won’t post anymore. Cool blog
He’s the “deputy speaker of Ukraine’s Parliament.” These are the people who TOOK OVER. They are Nazis who used terrorism to overthrow an elected government and went to work massacring several thousand of their Russian speaking compatriots in the east.
You keep using the propaganda trick of ignoring the complaint by claiming it is a small minority. It is an armed, dangerous minority that seized power through violence. They are also supported covertly by US and EU officials. So, I’m not all that swayed by your characterizations.
