Penny Dreadful S3 – My Review

Pulling out all stops, they pushed the myths to the limits. This truly remarkable show is full of drama, tears, blood, guts and romance. Filmed like the ultimate gothic novel, the lush sets and period flourishes never stop. That is until The End pops up at the conclusion of this season.

They knew their time was finite, and they decided to arc the season to wrap up the stories. I like shows that are planned out, rather than arbitrarily ramble on and on (looking at you Walking Dead).

As expected, Dracula showed up for real this season, erasing the bad taste of mindless gore from our mouths. For some reason a superwoman with blades also arrived, unexplained. As did the infamous Doctor Jekyll. With these and the women’s revolution brewing, a lot of threads open up.


So, some top-notch pulp. They hammered home their themes. Bittersweet moments and well-deserved…
