” former CIA analyst” straight up makes baseless war propaganda claim at Counterpunch:

“The delayed response to Syria’s unconscionable use of chemical weapons against its own people indicates that the U.S. national security bureaucracy as well as such key European allies as the UK, France, and Germany are trying to constrain the president and to limit the damage of greater U.S. involvement.”

No evidence necessary for former CIA analysts who also happen to be:

Goodman is the national security columnist for counterpunch.org.

The CIA doesn’t hire idiots. Their analysts are top notch and know what’s going on. They manipulate what the public thinks is going on regularly as standard practice. In this case, Goodman hopes his readers are as pig ignorant as the regular couch potatoes and know nothing about seven years of lies, false flags, and covert support to Al Qaeda.

I’m shocked that Counterpunch has sunk so low. They seem to have been compromised to the point of becoming useful idiots for imperial aggression.

Counterpunch had always been irrationally biased against the prospect of September 11th Treason, like dupes impervious to factual evidence. Now they slip further into irrelevance.

Counterpunch has been a blatherpocalypse these past few months. For and against Sanders has been the hot-button topic.

This dude, Andrew Stewart, makes a great case for Sanders by making it easy to reject the hair-brained communist-manifesto rhetoric of himself, Andrew Stewart:

“I am by choice one who describes his politics as anarcho-syndicalist, which I feel has a more tenable chance of being achieved in this country than the parliamentary road.”

So a flavor of anarchist, but he then goes on to praise the Bolshevik revolution in Russia in any number of ways, like that was a noteworthy success we might emulate, only to take it much further this time…?

Stewart says:

“The nationalization of the banks and socialization of the means of production are bare essentials of any real socialist program, regardless of ideological tendency.”

This is false, as Scandinavian countries, and most of the western world for that matter, instituted countless social assistance programs without doing either. The demand to seize the “means of production” in a sweeping totalitarian maneuver is so radical on its face, and so impossible in reality–not to mention undesirable–that it would force a society that resembles North Korea or STASI Germany in order to implement it!

Verdict: Andrew Stewart’s prescription for humanity is a kind of 19th century totalitarianism. His criticism of Sanders is that Bernie is in no position to upend the entire economy of the planet, use military force and come marching in some sort of revolution to please the handful of diehard communists (or anarchists? he seems confused) who will accept nothing less.

So, perhaps Bernie is doing something right.

This was a shocking surprise to me this morning. CounterPunch has been an essential resource for news and analysis for over a decade. I go there each morning that new articles are posted. A good number of my own articles have been published there, and several have had some real impact at reaching a decent number of people. His passing is a tragic loss in the fight against creeping fascism. The publication he created is a vital and top notch source for news about the world and of highly controversial topics. His was a heroic life, and he called it like he saw it.
