Imprisoned CIA Whistleblower John Kiriakou Threatened with ‘Diesel Therapy,’ Suffers Shakedowns for Talking to Press

““One of my cellmates, a 40-ish African-American whom I like, respect and consider a friend, made an important point,” according to Kirakou. “‘Don’t you see what they’re doing? They’re trying to make us mad with these shakedowns so that we’ll turn on you.’ He imagined a conversation: ‘Let’s piss off the big black guy so he pressures Kiriakou to stop writing and doing interviews.’”

It did not work that time. “My cellmate urged me to ‘keep up the fight. Keep telling people what it’s like in here.’ I promise to do that.”

John Kiriakou exposed that the CIA was torturing people in violation of the law, and with impunity.  For exposing CIA crimes he was imprisoned and his life threatened repeatedly.  This is truly a lawless, criminal age, and the criminals are in charge.

RT is reporting NSA leaker Edward Snowden is staying in Russia, at least temporarily.

‘My asylee status now formal’: Snowden declares ‘acceptance’ of all offers of asylum

Perhaps it was the Russians who suggested to Washington that Snowden was on board Bolivian president Evo Morales’ plane?  To see what Washington would do?  And let them embarrass the shit out of themselves and expose their European lapdogs as the illegitimate assholes they are?

“Addressing rights activists, [Snowden] recalled that only a short while ago he had family, comfortable live and a home in paradise. “I also had the capability without any warrant to search for, seize, and read your communications. Anyone’s communications at any time. That is the power to change people’s fates,” Snowden stated, adding that such power is also a serious violation of the law.  “The 4th and 5th Amendments to the Constitution of my country, Article 12 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and numerous statutes and treaties forbid such systems of massive, pervasive surveillance,” the whistleblower pointed out.”

To create a new franchise about a superhero whistleblower, who has to fight his own government, writer/filmmakers Jim Cirile and Aaron Pope brought in big muscle.

The writing team of Jim Cirile & Aaron Pope knew they were on to something when they sketched out their original short screenplay for Liberator – a character study of an aging ex-superhero with political undertones. “Liberator was one of ‘America’s goodwill ambassadors’ – leader of a government-created team of supers,” says Cirile. “But that was just their cover. What they were really up to was something else entirely.” When a black op went south, the Liberator was forced to take the fall. Decades later, after a long stint in prison, Liberator is disgraced, reviled — a traitor. “His own family, his daughter, won’t even talk to him any more. And that is just killing him.” So at great personal risk, after all this time – Liberator decides to blow the whistle and tell the truth.

“We knew that trying to launch an original superhero franchise without source material would be next to impossible,” says Pope.  “But if we had something with the right combination of grit and heart, we might just be able to speak to people with it.  That was worth the risk for us so we gambled on getting the closest thing to a real life superhero we could find and sent the script to Lou (Ferrigno).”

Ferrigno sparked to the role immediately.  “It really spoke to him,” says Pope. “Once we had Lou on board, the cast came together quickly – Ed Asner (Up), the amazing Peta Wilson (La Femme Nikita) and Mr. Worf himself, Michael Dorn, and we were off and running.” Well, except for a little matter of money.

Cirile and Pope decided the best strategy was to shoot as much as they could with the funds they had. “We had enough dough to shoot five days,” says Cirile. “That was enough to get us a lot of great footage to put together a sizzle reel for Kickstarter.” With the reel showing off genre faves Wilson and Dorn, and featuring Ferrigno himself asking for finishing funds, the team set out to raise $18,000. “It was down to the wire,” says Pope. “We were sweating it out there as the deadline got closer and closer. But then with literally seconds to spare, three big donors all came in and put us over the top. We wound up raising almost $25,000.”

Turns out Cirile and Pope had their fingers on the pulse of time. Liberator landed right in the midst of the current whistleblower debate. Huffington Post, USA Today, Fox & Friends, Yahoo! News, and soon CNN all picking up the story.

Liberator premiered last year at Holly Shorts Film Festival and since then has been playing at film festivals and comic-cons. To date it has won Best Dramatic Short from CalShorts and the Award of Excellence from IndieFest. The project’s building momentum has resulted in a comic book deal from Bluewater Comics, with Lou Ferrigno: Liberator hitting stands this summer. “This is a dream come true and in fact, it’s almost like we’ve come full-circle,” says Pope. “We not only get to expand the world of our characters, but we’re creating our own source material, which was the issue we faced in trying to start a new superhero franchise in the first place.”

Now that Liberator is both an award-winning short and a comic book series, can a feature film be far behind? “Franchise was our goal from the beginning,” says Cirile. “The project already has fans in the biz. We’ll see what shakes out. In the meantime, this is my geek dream cast, geek dream project, and we’re really stoked that people are feeling it. Truth is worth fighting for.”

All Aboard the Bullshit Express

Like everything else corporate whoredom shits out, the very nature of the language is undermined and debauched daily.  Concepts that embody morality and sacrifice turn into game shows for self-aggrandizement.

Heroism is now unrecognizable, the mindless commands of a steroid enhanced actor replacing intelligence and moral fortitude.  A bag full of money features in the teaser for this reckless show to risk life and serious injury so that one can perform on TV under the fake banner of “The Hero.”

hero-not

Enough of this programming, this Pavlovian conditioning, has warped the social fabric of the nation.  Heroism is itself a marketing slogan for mercenary militarists, Hollywood snake oil salesmen and skeezy “reality” show producers.  And so it is dead in this nation.  The true heroes are labeled state enemies and criminals, sent to prison while the pig ignorant couch slugs gawk on at gibberish like “The Hero.”

Modern American heroes include Edward Snowden, who exposed NSA mass surveillance.  And William Binney, who exposed NSA mass surveillance.  And Adrienne Kinne, who exposed NSA mass surveillance.  And Mark Klein, who exposed NSA mass surveillance.  Is anyone noticing a pattern?

And Bradley Manning who exposed US war crimes, lies and deceptions of the US State Department, and is currently being tried in a military kangaroo court that won’t let him argue the actual reasons why he did what he did.  And Lieutenant Ehren Watada who refused to be deployed to Iraq on the grounds that it was a Crime Against the Peace, an illegal war of aggression, which he similarly was not allowed to say at his kangaroo court martial.

And Sibel Edmonds, the FBI translator who saw raw intelligence documenting massive US official complicit criminality and support for terrorists in Central Asia, but was fired from the FBI and gagged instead of rewarded and having her evidence used in prosecutions of wrongdoing.  And John Kiriakou who exposed CIA torture and was rewarded with jail time.  And Senator Bob Graham who would not let the 9/11 cover-up stand and has vehemently protested to this day the suppression of evidence of Saudi Arabian and other foreign government involvement in those attacks.

hero-not2

There are heroes in America today.  But they aren’t the kind that Hollywood sells to children.  They most certainly are not the jackasses playing on the outsides of skyscrapers to make some cash in the service of selling commercial air time – glorified car and beer salesmen.  Such a bastardization and trivialization of the meaning of the word is an insult to every thinking person on this planet.  Dwayne, “The Rock,” should apologize to the world in shame.  That’s not heroism, Dwayne.  Not even close.

“Now increasingly we see that it’s happening domestically.  And to do that they, the NSA specifically, targets the communications of everyone.  It ingests them by default.  It collects them in its system and it filters and it analyzes them and it measures them and it stores them for periods of time simply because that’s the easiest, most efficient and most valuable way to achieve these ends.”
“Any analyst at any time can target anyone.”
“But, I sitting at my desk certainly had the authorities to wiretap anyone, from YOU or your accountant to a federal judge to even the president if I had a personal email.”

Another American hero destined to be destroyed by the increasingly fascist empire.

One of the most powerful segments of radio you will ever hear in your life:

MP3 – The Man Who Stopped the My Lai Massacre

No big Hollywood movie has been made about one of the most defining moments of the Vietnam War, the My Lai massacre.  Helicopter pilot Hugh Thompson was the man who represented the United States of America that day, as barbaric monsters executed babies, children, women, the elderly, in a genocidal rampage that killed over 500 defenseless villagers.
