’Every societal failure, we put off on cops to solve…That’s too much to ask’ ‒ Dallas police chief

We’re in a much better place than we were when I was a young man here, but we have much work to do ‒ particularly in our profession ‒ and leaders in my position need to put their careers on the line to make sure we do things right, not be so worried about keeping their job.”

The right-wing assault on society enters the discussion. They have gutted social services, particularly mental health, which bears directly on many of these mass shootings.

“Every societal failure, we put it off on the cops to solve: Not enough mental health funding ‒ let the cops handle it. Not enough drug addiction funding, let’s give it to the cops. Here in Dallas, we got a loose dog problem. Let’s have the cops chase loose dogs. You know, schools fail, give it to the cops.

Bin Laden 2.0: ‘Crown prince of terror’ stakes claim to Osama’s legacy

the son of Osama Bin Laden has made a menacing statement, calling for jihad against the US and its allies, and advocating lone attacks in such world capitals as London, Paris, Tel Aviv and Washington.

Noam Chomsky and the Willful Ignorance of 9/11

This is similar to my own response to Chomsky’s ongoing deception.

I’ll add one more point concerning Chomsky’s gibberish that neither Ryan nor myself included previously.  Noam Chomsky’s so-called “evidence” is that “they [the Bush White House] blamed it  [9/11] on their allies” the Saudis.  Not true.  Not true in the slightest.

The evidence suggests Saudi state complicity.  However, the “blame” is nowhere to be seen, and this evidence is covered up to this day.  Two administrations have glaringly failed to blame the Saudis for assisting the 9/11 hijackers inside the United States.  Noam Chomsky’s mischaracterization of what happened is more deliberate deception.

This man does not deserve your trust, people.  He repeatedly makes idiotic statements on this issue, when on many other issues he is quite serious and studied.  The glaring disparity between what Chomsky will say here vs. what he says on other safer topics, topics that don’t involve high treason by US government officials and the CIA, should be a red flag to YOU.

There are many whistleblowers who have told us of the cover-up of the September 11th attacks by the US government.  Noam Chomsky knows this.  He doesn’t care.  His verbal contortions are deliberate, deceptive and propagandistic.  I may do a much longer study of Noam Chomsky’s lies about the September 11th attacks, to date.

Trouble in Panem

Unspoiled

You’ll definitely want to catch the next installment of The Hunger Games, which is done even better than the first film. The arbitrary shaky cam is gone, and the story is tense and moves along at a slightly faster tempo.  The characters are true to themselves, and the situation escalates from bad to worse.  Catching Fire played to a packed audience, and the crowd stayed with the film to the end.

Donald Sutherland’s stunning call for a revolution aligns with the story itself.  The comparisons with America’s slide toward despotism and a police state are intended and striking.  Even more so than the first movie, a lot of young people are going to be contemplating political messages embedded in the film.  This is not a neutral situation, and neither is our current reality.  While we are in no way as oppressive a society as is Panem, we edge continually toward it with each passing power grab in “the capital,” a place nearly as out of touch with average Americans and their plights today.

What delights is the blatant shredding of propaganda, the political exploitation of the manufactured heroes, and how they are stage managed to placate the masses. The thinly-veiled propaganda techniques, such as those used by Stanley Tucci’s character mirror our own TV media reality.  There isn’t much difference except for the hyperbolic degree which Panem takes their messaging.  Our real world version is far more subtle, far more insidious and yet retains similar goals.

The family can’t wait for the next film, and hopefully it won’t be so long off.  Jennifer Lawrence remain truthful, beautiful and powerful, an icon for the next generation.
