When Van Jones appeared to lose his mind and declare Trump some sort of deity because of his Very Solemn treatment of the death of the One Person Who Mattered, Van Jones was following a long tradition of treatment of the sacred sacrificing of lives to the God of War, the feeding of troops to the Holy Flag. Only lives that matter can be used in this ritual. Only lives that have been lost and that mattered can be used to justify hurling more lives after them. President Polk knew this when he got U.S. troops killed in Mexico. So did those war propagandists who “remembered the Maine.” The mast of the Maine still stands at the Naval Academy in Annapolis as a monument to the fundamental rite of lying about dead people who mattered, in order to remove all constraints on behavior.

Abby,

All of this fascism and idiocy was preordained by the afternoon of September 11th. What has been revealed since was that at minimum the White House allowed the attacks to happen in order to bring fascism to the USA. Chris Hedges, Noam Chomsky and the left so-called alternative media have been responsible for burying this issue and allowing fascism to roll in unimpeded. Whether it’s cowardice or compromise, it cannot stand. And they cannot stand in the face of the facts.

I have directly challenged and called out Chomsky, but he doesn’t “care” about minor issues like the modern Reichstag Fire that brought us full blown fascism.

I cannot stress enough how 9/11 directly led to Trump. They have gotten away with not only allowing our “defenses” to fail spectacularly (Rebuilding America’s Defenses), but to keep the Al Qaeda menace alive in Libya, Syria and beyond. They have brought Al Qaeda back from the dead with ISIS, handing Trump his next war pretext.

Chris Hedges hides from this reality, making him useless, impotent, irrelevant, choose your own term. He and the “left” have failed to oppose the Reichstag Fire, the Treason at the heart of this new World Order.

Of what use are his words if America overwhelmingly still thinks it has an independent enemy out there waiting to strike? The real terrorism is aided and abetted by US intelligence with its partners in crime, most importantly: Saudi Arabia. Nothing is ever done about this, not even after Trump’s hollow pledges.

Defending the decision to cast Damon in the lead role, director Zhang Yimou wrote, “Our film is not about the construction of the Great Wall …The arrival of (Damon’s) character in our story is an important plot point. There are five major heroes in our story and he is one of them – the other four are all Chinese. The collective struggle and sacrifice of these heroes are the emotional heart of our film.

 

I think another unmentioned problem, deserving of its own entire article is Hollywood’s myth about the hero/mercenary. This Great Wall film has Damon as a mercenary, a gun for hire, and yet he is praised by the director as a “hero.” So we already know where that’s going.

There is much propaganda to chew on. That insipid alien invasion crap Independence Day suffered from the same ailments. Nearly all big budget Hollywood films today are chock full of American propaganda and militarism.
