The “digital revolution” is lacking in that final stage of the chain, a cheap and easy way to get the thing up on a big screen.  Digital projectors require DCP format, which has been complicated and expensive to finish.  This may be changing with OpenDCP software, but it is still prone to bugs and snags, and complexity.  Here is a video tutorial about it.
