Clean renewables are the only sane energy path. Everything else must go. Don’t listen to people whose livelihoods depend upon you making the dirty choice.

Solar Cost Hits World’s New Low, Half the Price of Coal

Chile awarded a contract to sell solar power for $29.10 per megawatt hour (MWh), the lowest ever across the planet.

We would have had clean energy this cheap decades ago if not for the evil machinations of the zombie ghoul Ronald Reagan and his wrecking crew. Reagan literally had solar panels ripped off the White House and ushered in a regressive age of oiligarchs and financial psychopaths.

Germany Just Got 78 Percent Of Its Electricity From Renewable Sources

On Saturday, July 25, Germany set a new national record for renewable energy by meeting 78 percent of the day’s electricity demand with renewables sources

It’s a simple matter of priorities. There is no natural law governing which types of energy we choose to invest in. This is about human decision making and human priorities. It always has been. We could be getting as much from renewables here in the USA. The Carter administration put solar panels on the White House.

Reagan ripped them off.

New EIA analysis shows nukes don’t help reduce carbon emissions under EPA’s Clean Power Plan

In other words, increased investment in nuclear power means decreased investment in cleaner solar power. We can have a nuclear future or we can have a solar future: we can’t have both. And a solar future is cleaner, cheaper and safer.

And, as analyzed by Utility Dive, perhaps the most significant finding is that nuclear power does not help achieve greater carbon emission reductions.

Americans Want America To Run On Solar and Wind

…So, those ignorant dipshits shilling for the nuke industry, whom I run into on message boards, represent a miniscule minority.  That’s a reason to celebrate.

Now you people need to force Washington to act on it.

Tesla’s new Roadster 3.0 can go 400 miles per charge

The company said it has identified a new battery cell that has 31 percent more energy than the cells used in the original Roadster.

On top of that, the Roadster 3.0 is expected to be 15 percent more aerodynamic than the original Roadster, and the new Roadster’s tires will have a 20 percent increase in roll resistance compared to earlier versions.

There are myriad reasons to support only the creation of new renewable energy sources. Here’s another:

Switching to vehicles powered by electricity from renewables could save lives
Driving vehicles that use electricity from renewable energy instead of gasoline could reduce the resulting deaths due to air pollution by 70 percent.

Solar and Wind Energy Start to Win on Price vs. Conventional Fuels

The New York Times:

The cost of providing electricity from wind and solar power plants has plummeted over the last five years, so much so that in some markets renewable generation is now cheaper than coal or natural gas.

So let me add: fuck you nuclear, and your malignant, cancerous apologists. Fuck you gas fracking and the outright poisoning of our vital aquifers. Fuck you oil drillers, destroying the Gulf of Mexico as if it was yours to destroy. Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you.

While I don’t like linking to Mother Jones, with a disclaimer that they will mislead on controversial issues, this seems pretty straightforward:

Here Comes the Sun: America’s Solar Boom, in Charts

The most crucial piece of info is on this image:

When that day comes, it’s time.

Remember Mother Jones, The Nation and a host of other so-called “progressive” and “alternative” outlets receive shady foundation funding, some of it connected to the Ford Foundation and the CIA.

Electric Vehicle Company taxicab-thumb-600x424-44735

In the early 1900s, they used electric taxi cabs in New York City.  These had removable batteries, and were swiftly recycled into service by simply replacing the battery pack.  This is the future we need, to divorce the car from the battery supply, and to extend the range of vehicles so that they can be charged wherever we go.  Agassi predicts 2 cents per mile by 2020, making petroleum cars too expensive, too polluting, and pretty much insane in the face of global climate catastrophe.

US Shale Oil expected to be exploited without restriction…

“The [International Energy Agency (IEA)] said it expected the US to overtake Russia as the world’s biggest gas producer by 2015 and to become “all but self-sufficient” in its energy needs by about 2035.”

With the “self-sufficiency” justification in full swing, there is not going to be any real  debate over the fracking pollution of groundwater, nor the global warming carbon increases.  This self-sufficiency card will silence Americans and continue their slavish reliance on fossil fuels, instead of creating a clean, renewable infrastructure.

Anti-Fracking activists are set to be treated like terrorists, as anti-animal cruelty activists currently are, without a peep from middle Amerika.  You think “Welcome to the New World Order” is a little over the top?
